One of my favorite projects from college. I won third place in the Wellesley College Davis Museum Design Contest where student designers were tasked with designing sustainable works of art inspired by Ghanian sculptor, El Anatsui.
I built this dress out of recyclable branded materials I picked up from various trash repositories– to find the branded items was the easiest part of the project!
At one point, I was called back to the museum to lacquer the dress with hair spray because the smell of the cigarettes was filling the museum hall.
Materials: Recycled bottles, bags, tape, newspaper and cigarettes.
